EUGENEEighteen University of Oregon students received $500 TO $1,000 scholarships and graduate fellowships from Office of the Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).
Scholarship recipients, who were nominated by faculty members, received the following:
The Mildred Braaten Archibald Scholarship in Science and Mathematics ($1,000): Kyen Waldron, a junior mathematics and physics major from Portland.
The Mary Chambers Brockelbank Endowed Assistance Fund ($1,000): Bonni Cermak, a history doctoral student of Burlington, Wash.; Christopher Hundhausen, a computer and information science doctoral student of Waukesha, Wis.; and Carla McNelly, a post-bachelors Romance languages major of Eugene.
The College of Arts and Sciences Scholarship ($1,000): Andrew Jost, a sophomore biochemistry major of Eugene, and Anna Rose Shope, a junior philosophy major with a pre-med emphasis of Seattle, Wash.
The Dorothy Jane and William Joseph Green Foreign Languages Scholarship ($1,000): Joshua ODonnell, a senior Italian studies major of Eugene, and Susan Vincent, a senior German major of Eugene.
The Everett D. Monte Scholarship ($1,000): Nancy Hart, a senior religious and medieval studies major of Eugene; Adam Woodworth, a sophomore general science major of Baker City; and Jeremiah Heller, a junior mathematics major of Eugene.
The Everett D. Monte Graduate Fellowship ($1,000): David Sandner, a graduate teaching fellow in the English department of San Francisco, Calif., and Robyn Carpenter, a political science doctoral degree student of Farmington, N.M.
The John L. and Naomi Luvaas Graduate Fellowship ($1,000): Michael Pebworth, a history doctoral degree student of Homewood, Ill., and Florence Jurney, a Romance languages doctoral degree student of Eugene.
The Risa Palm Graduate Fellowship ($1,000): Shimon Tanaka, a master of fine arts degree student in creative writing of Haworth, N.J., and Penelope Heinigk, a German doctoral degree student of Hazelwood, Mo.
The Susan Winn Memorial Student Scholarship ($500): Katherine Hulpke, a postbaccalaureate physics and linguistics major of Eugene.
