EUGENE–Homi K. Bhabha, one of the world’s leading voices in postcolonial studies, will examine the relationship between globalization and human rights at the 2001 Koehn Colloquium sponsored by the University of Oregon School of Architecture and Allied Arts (AAA).

The talk, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, in
Room 177 of Lawrence Hall, 1190 Franklin Blvd.

Bhabha is the Chester D. Tripp Professor in the Humanities at the University of Chicago. His talk, "Space Agency: Ethics and the Enunciation of Equality," will address the ways in which global issues reach beyond economics and politics into the arena of human rights.

The Koehn Colloquium, supported through a gift from Michael and Stacy Koehn, brings scholars to the UO campus who share a broad interdisciplinary perspective on the diverse fields of the school–architecture, landscape architecture, art, art history, planning, public policy and management, and arts administration.

Each colloquium includes a lecture by an invited scholar and a one-day seminar for graduate students and faculty. In addition, the events provide a setting for participants to discuss a range of ideas and share perspectives on the nature of the school’s disciplines.
