Crosiar 346-3135 EUGENE--University of Oregon dance students will "Spring Into Life" on May 8-10 when this year's concert of dances choreographed, performed and produced by students takes form. Performances of dances reflecting playfulness, community and entertainment are set at 8 p.m. nightly in the Dougherty Dance Theatre on the third floor of Gerlinger Annex, 1484 University St. on the UO campus. The Department of Dance and Dance Oregon, a student organization funded by the Associated Students of the University of Oregon, are co-sponsors of the annual event. Tickets for "Spring Into Life" can be purchased at the door. The price is $5 for general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens. Graduate student Emmely Muehlhauser from Manchester, Tenn., will present "Spiders and Giants," a pilot study for her choreographic thesis. Senior Kari Neigebauer of Newport will show "Live Alone and Like It," an upbeat musical theater piece. Senior Megan Gillis of Lafayette, Calif., will present "Demention, Dimension/Dissention, Descention" with several vignettes in a variety of dance idioms. Senior Jonette Ford of Auburn, N.Y., will show "Lazuli" whose choreography utilizes a structured group improvisation form. Also contributing to the concert will be sophomores Sarah Beth Smith of Eugene and Janell Becker of Newport. In the group piece "Fuerza," Smith will celebrate the strength of women, while Becker will bring a group of dancers together for the jazz piece "Cookin !" Kristine McConnell of Eugene, a dance alumna and current Community Education student, also will present an untitled duet. Senior Laura Brandon of Reedsport is producing "Spring Into Life" for her senior project. The Dougherty Dance Theatre is wheelchair accessible.
