EUGENE–A locally produced film about the life and works of Northwest artist C.S. Price will be shown at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening, Aug. 30, during the free weekly MusEvenings! program at the University of Oregon Museum of Art, 1430 Johnson Lane.

"C.S. Price: Modernist Painter in Search of Spirit" was produced, videographed and edited by Kathleen Vitale, a UO art museum docent and volunteer. The film, narrated by Vicki Amorose, was inspired by the museum’s 1999 exhibition, "C.S. Price: Landscape, Image and Spirit."

Other contributors to the film, which replaces the previously announced showing of "Northwest Visionaries" from the Seattle Art Museum, were Karl Durland, who wrote and performed background music, and Roger Saydack, who was adviser on the video.

The screening is offered in conjunction with the UO museum’s current exhibitions of Northwest art, "Heritage of Pacific Northwest Art: The Virginia Haseltine Collection," and "Community Favorites from the David McCosh Collection. Both are on display through Sept. 3.

The University of Oregon Museum of Art is a nonprofit state institution supported by the generosity of its members and by grants from the Oregon Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Horton, Museum of Art, Culp, Krause and Autzen endowments provide operating funds.

Programs associated with this summer’s exhibitions also are supported by the David J. McCosh Memorial Endowment and by the Virginia Haseltine Endowment.

Accessible to people with disabilities, the Museum of Art is open from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Suggested admission is $3, except on Wednesday evenings when the MusEvenings! program offers free extended viewing hours from 5 to 8 p.m. Museum members, students, UO employees and children are admitted free.
