Size: 138,000 square feet.

Features: Eight classrooms, 200-seat auditorium, three meeting rooms, 87 offices, one moot courtroom, eight group study rooms and 10 individual study rooms.

Connectivity: A state-of-the art computer lab and 1,000 computer hookups throughout the building provide connectivity to on-line information data bases, on-line classes and live video teleconferencing. The building was recently declared "most wired law school in America" by the national Computer Assisted Legal Instruction Group.

Library: With 35,000 square feet and 80 study carrels, the new library doubles the previous law library space, making it possible to store its entire collection.

Construction: Construction began in June 1997 and was completed in May 1999.

Funding: Design and construction cost of the center, approximately $26 million, is privately financed with $10.3 million from the sale of state bonds and $15.3 million from gifts and grants. The new UO law building is named in honor of 1932 UO law school graduate William W. Knight, whose son, Philip Knight, committed $10 million to the law school building project.

Entering class: Approximately 185 students

Overall enrollment: Approximately 500 students

Women and minorities: Women comprise approximately 50 percent of the student body; minorities comprise approximately 15 percent.

Faculty: Of the law school’s 28 tenure-track faculty, more than half are women and minorities, reflecting the growing diversity in the profession.
