EUGENE–Slightly more than 700 University of Oregon students are candidates for degrees at the end of fall term 1998, according to officials in the Office of the Registrar.

Among fall term’s 701 degree candidates are 496 receiving bachelor’s degrees, 147 completing master’s degrees and 56 finishing doctoral degrees. In addition, two candidates are receiving certificates.

No commencement ceremonies will be held. However, several schools, colleges and departments will host informal receptions to honor graduates and their families.

Diplomas will be mailed to all who complete graduation requirements by the end of the term on Dec. 11.
