Cohen is a UO associate professor of geography, who studies the Middle East. He is prepared

to comment on the timing of the bombing attack and will discuss the effectiveness of the tactic. Cohen is critical of the attack on Iraq.

Mitchell is a UO assistant professor of political science. His studies focus on international

relations, foreign policy and international diplomacy. Mitchell argues that the appropriateness of the military response needs to be assessed in the light of the ineffectiveness of alternate strategies meant to limit Sadam Hussein’s development of weapons of mass destruction and the risks involved if that development is permitted to continue. Alternative strategies include economic sanctions, diplomacy and weapons treaties.

Weiss is a UO associate professor of international studies. She is an expert on the Middle East

and Muslim culture. She is prepared to comment on the implications of the attack for U.S. political and economic relations with other countries in the region. She also can discuss the president’s explanation of why he chose not to launch the attacks during Ramadan.
