TICKETS FOR SNYDER READING AT UO AVAILABLE STARTING FEB. 21

EUGENE–A limited number of free tickets for an evening reading March 9 by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Gary Snyder will be distributed at the University of Oregon by on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Feb. 21.

Called "the greatest of living nature poets" by the Los Angeles Times, Snyder will read at
8 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, in Room 150 of Columbia Hall.

A discussion on Snyder’s work and legacy will follow at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 10, in the Browsing Room of the UO Knight Library, 1501 Kincaid St. The panel discussion is also free and open to the public, and no ticket is needed.

Required for admission to Snyder’s evening performance only, tickets will be available for a two-week period through March 3. Patrons can obtain two tickets per person at the UO Creative Writing Program office in Room 145 of Columbia Hall, 1215 E. 13th Ave. The office is open from
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays but is closed from noon to 1 p.m. daily.

Tickets cannot be reserved by phone or through e-mail. Lost tickets will not be replaced.

Patrons must present tickets at the door March 9 to get a seat. Ticket holders must be in their seats by 7:40 p.m., 20 minutes before the reading. Any seats that remain open at that time will be given to non-ticket holders.

Snyder’s reading and the panel discussion are co-sponsored by the university’s Knight Library, the UO School of Architecture and Allied Arts, the Oregon Humanities Center, the UO Environmental Studies Program and the UO Bookstore.
