EUGENE–The University of Oregon Department of Dance will put the spotlight on student work in its Dance Quarterly concert at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, in the Dougherty Dance Theatre on the third floor of Gerlinger Annex, 1484 University St.

The free, informal event will feature works-in-progress by dance department students and classes, and feature work by graduate students Hsing-Yun Huang and Nichole Spates.

Huang, a native of Taiwan, will combine modern dance with Chinese dance and Chinese opera in "Transformation in Dance: Past, Future, Present."

Spates will show two parts of her master’s project, with the final performance set for 4 p.m. on Friday, April 28, in the Dougherty Dance Theatre.

In addition, assistant professor Pamela Geber’s improvisation class and associate professor Steven Chatfield’s composition class will present material developed throughout the term.

The dance faculty and students will be available for discussions after the program.
