EUGENE–Randy Swangard is the new director of the Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Oregon’s Charles H. Lundquist College of Business.

Swangard directs the entrepreneurship program, a key component of the business college’s mission. The entrepreneurship center fosters the exchange of entrepreneurial knowledge and the advancement of skills that enable students and faculty to succeed in new endeavors. The program supports academic curriculum at the M.B.A. and undergraduate levels, as well as research, business and student support services, and the Student Business Incubator program.

"Randy Swangard brings to the center a great track record in business education and a wealth of on-the-ground insight from his background as a successful entrepreneur," said Phil Romero, dean of the Lundquist College of Business.

He began teaching at the UO in 1986. As a senior instructor on the Lundquist faculty, Swangard has taught at the graduate and undergraduate levels, twice being honored with teaching awards. For three years, he has directed the college’ s M.B.A. Opportunity Planning Team program.

As an entrepreneur, Swangard has directly started, managed, advised or invested in eight entrepreneurial companies. He also has consulted with numerous Northwest companies, advising them on developing entrepreneurial opportunities and devising solutions to traditional market and organizational problems.

Swangard earned his B.A. degree at the UO in 1969 and received an M.B.A at the University of Washington in 1971.

"It’s an honor to be given the responsibility to direct such an innovative and exemplary program," Swangard said. "The center for entrepreneurship has been a galvanizing force for the entire college and business community and instills in students the enterprising spirit so essential for success in any business venture."
