EUGENE--Renowned scholar, author and University of Chicago professor of law and ethics Martha Nussbaum is the 1998 presenter in the University of Oregon Colin Ruagh Thomas O'Fallon Memorial Lecture Series. Nussbaum will give a free public lecture entitled "International Feminism: The Role of Religion" at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, in Room 129 of Grayson Hall (UO Law Center), 1101 Kincaid St. Nussbaum is the author of dozens of articles, reviews and books including the recently published "Cultivating Humanity: A Classical Defense of Reform in Liberal Education." Her other books include "For Love of Country: A Debate on Patriotism and Cosmopolitanism," "Poetic Justice: The Literary Imagination and Public Life," "The Therapy of Desire: Theory and Practice in Hellenistic Ethics," and the forthcoming "Sex and Social Justice." Her reviews have appeared in publications including the New York Review of Books, The New Republic and The Boston Globe. Nussbaum is the Ernst Freund Professor of Law and Ethics at the University of Chicago. Previously, she was a visiting professor at institutions including Oxford University, the University of Oslo, Norway, and Stanford University. She also was on the faculty at Brown, Harvard and Princeton universities and Wellesley College. Sponsored by the Oregon Humanities Center, the O'Fallon Lecture Series alternates each year between the topics of law and art in American culture. It was established by a generous gift from Henry and Betsy Mayer in memory of their nephew, son of law professor James O'Fallon and his wife, artist Ellen Thomas. Past O'Fallon lecturers have included Ronald Dworkin, James Dennis, Milner S. Ball, James F. O'Gorman, Thomas C. Grey, Arthur C.
