EUGENE--A nationally recognized advocate for peace and diversity will present a Jewish perspective of how Israelis and Palestinians can achieve reconciliation at a free public lecture at the University of Oregon. Los Angeles Rabbi Chaim Seidler-Feller will speak on "Paths to Peace: Jewish Perspectives on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict" from 7:30-9:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 23, in Room 100 of Willamette Hall, 1371 E. 13th Ave. The talk is third in a series of events in a year-long UO program on peace in the Middle East that will explore ways to support communication and peace-building efforts among Palestinians and Israelis. Rabbi Chaim Seidler-Feller has been director of the University of California at Los Angeles Hillel, a campus student organization, since 1975. He serves on the Governing Council of the American Jewish Congress, on the Executive Committee of the Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation's Commission on the Middle East and on the national board of Americans for Peace Now. Seidler-Feller has helped develop programs to reduce ethnic tensions at UCLA, especially between Jews and African Americans. He is the author of "Three Faiths: One God" published by Hicks & Meltzer. The Carlton Raymond and Wilberta Ripley Savage Endowment on International Relations and Peace is sponsoring the UO Israeli-Palestinian Peace Program, with assistance from the Office of the President, the Oregon Humanities Center, International Studies Program, Department of Anthropology, Department of Religious Studies, Office of International Affairs, the Robert D. Clark Honors College, the Provost's Office of Research and Graduate Education, the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies, and Portland State University's Middle East Studies Program.
