UO GEOLOGIST OFFERS FREE SCIENCE LECTURE ON VOLCANOES

EUGENE–University of Oregon geology professor Katharine Cashman will present a free public lecture and slide presentation entitled "Chasing Volcanoes–Lessons Learned" at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12 in the Auditorium at South Eugene High School, 400 E. 19th Ave.

Cashman will describe volcanic eruptions from around the world and what lessons these cataclysmic events teach us about such local sites as Mount St. Helens, Mount Shasta, and Mount Hood. Her presentation is suitable for all age groups.

This is the second of three in this year’s "A Touch of Science" lecture series presented by the University Faculty Science Outreach Program.
