Their talk compliments "Hope Photographs," a traveling compilation of more than 100 photographs, selected because of their seemingly unintentionally captured moments of hope. The exhibition will continue at the UO art museum, 1430 Johnson Lane, through March 7.
Bloom and Hill began their artistic collaboration in 1974. They chose to represent themselves by the name "Manual" because of the words connotations with physical labor and instructional text. "Arent artists laborers and cant one of arts jobs be to inform?" they ask.
The pairs photo-works, videotapes, computer programs and installations have been exhibited in 30 solo and more than 250 group shows held in 10 countries, 24 states and 66 cities.
The Museum of Art, accessible to people with disabilities, is open from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Suggested admission is $3, except on Wednesdays when the MusEvenings! program offers free extended viewing hours from 58 p.m. Museum members, students, UO employees and children are admitted free.
