KITZHABER TO DISCUSS SAFE SCHOOLS PROPOSALS WITH EDUCATORS

Feb. 4, 1999

Following last spring’s shootings at Thurston High School in Springfield, legislative leaders promised action to make Oregon’s schools safer. But not everyone agrees on the best way to reach that goal. Four hundred educators from around the state will hear Gov. John Kitzhaber’s proposals on safe schools during the 32nd annual Oregon Conference held in Eugene. Kitzhaber also will address charter schools in his talk. The governor will speak at noon on Friday, Feb. 5, in the Willamette Room at Valley River Inn, 1000 Valley River Way, Eugene. The Oregon Conference is a forum for sharing research-based effective practices and innovations in education. SOURCE: Carlie Neudeck, Oregon Conference organizer, (541) 687-0123.
