EUGENE---The dean of the University of Oregon's Charles H. Lundquist College of Business has accepted a job as executive vice president and chief operating officer of a Pittsburgh, Pa. consulting firm.

Timothy W. McGuire will leave the university to head up Management Sciences Associates, Inc. The company provides diverse marketing, sales, financial, media and other information to corporate clients.

Details of the transition are still being worked out.

"I have appreciated Tim's dynamic leadership of the Lundquist College of Business. He has opened up the school to more majors and minors, and has strengthened the Master of Business Administration program," said UO Provost John Moseley. "His leadership in developing the Lundquist college's entrepreneurship focus has been particularly important, and we expect the college to continue moving in this direction," Moseley added.

McGuire has been dean of the Lundquist College since 1994. Under McGuire's leadership the college has received national awards for its reorganization of the Master of Business Administration Program, which increased the focus on entrepreneurship. The restructured college introduced a minor in business, a new Business and Industrial Sales Program, and a new International Business Communication Program. The college increased and strengthened the faculty at the James H. Warsaw Sports Marketing Center, making it possible to offer concentrations in sports marketing at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Moseley will appoint an interim dean in a few weeks after consultation with the faculty and the Lundquist College Business Advisory Council. A national search for a permanent replacement will begin later this year.
