UO BIOLOGIST WINS AAAS FELLOW RECOGNITION

EUGENEThe American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has honored University of Oregon biology professor Michael Lynch with the rank of fellow.
Each year since 1874, AAAS members vote to bestow this honor on a select number of the organizations members whose efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its application are scientifically or socially distinguished.
A member of the UO faculty since 1989, Lynch has a wide range of expertise, including evolution, population biology, quantitative genetics and conservation biology.
Lynch, along with 282 other recipients, will receive his award on Jan. 23 at the annual meeting of AAAS in Anaheim, Calif.
Founded in 1848, AAAS is the worlds largest federation of scientific and engineering societies with more than 282 affiliate societies and 144,000 individual members.
