EUGENE–Local high school students are invited to attend "High School Dance Day" on Saturday, Feb 13, at the University of Oregon Department of Dance.

Free classes, in Gerlinger Annex, 1484 University St. on the UO campus, will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. A lunch break is scheduled for mid-day. Students may bring a bag lunch or purchase a meal on or near campus.

The day-long event will offer novices an introduction to dance and introduce experienced dancers to new dance forms. Participants will take morning technique classes in ballet, modern, jazz/hip-hop and African dance forms. In the afternoon repertory classes, they will learn excerpts from dances.

Pre-registration is required for "High School Dance Day" classes. Enrollment is limited to the first 50 students who register.

To register and for information, call the UO dance department, (541) 346-3386, weekdays during business hours. If the call is answered by voice mail, callers are asked to leave their name, telephone number and school affiliation to ensure registration.
