`ABRIDGED' SHAKESPEARE TAKES MAD DUCK STAGE JULY 17

EUGENE--The Mad Duck Repertory Theatre production of the comedy, "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)," will open at 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, in the Arena Theatre at Villard Hall, 1109 Old Campus Lane on the University of Oregon campus.

Subsequent performances will be held on July 18-20, 26-27 and 31, and on Aug. 1 and 9-10. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m.; Sunday performances begin at 7 p.m.

"The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)," written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, has been made famous by the Reduced Shakespeare Company. Using only three actors, "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)" compresses all 37 of Shakespeare's plays into one fast, funny and frenetic evening.

Heather Lindsley, a theater arts doctoral degree student, 22757 Minona Dr., Grand Terrace, Calif., directs the Mad Duck Repertory Theatre production. She returns after directing last season's production of "All in the Timing."

Cast members include Michael Govier, a sophomore theater arts major, 2551 El Verano St., Redding, Calif.; Shelly Swearingen, a senior theater arts major, 4022 S.W. Wickiup Court, Redmond; and Kirsten Winchell a senior theater arts major, 6500 S.W. 90th, Portland.

The design team includes Rebecca Utz, a theater arts master's degree student, 2933 Willamette St., Apt. 2, Eugene, sets; Karen Dinsmore, a senior English major, 2162 Westfarthing Way N.W., Salem, costumes; and Shelley Douma, , a theater arts doctoral degree student, 2869 Lakeshore Dr., Twin Lakes, Mich., lighting.

Jim Utz, a theater arts doctoral degree student, 1801 Tea Place, Davis, Calif., is the sound designer and technical director. Carrie Glasby, a history master's degree student, 2155 W. 17th Ave., Eugene, is stage manager.

Tickets for Thursday and Sunday performances are $7 for the general public and $5 for students and senior citizens. Friday and Saturday performance tickets are $8 for the general public and $6 for students and senior citizens.

Tickets will be sold by the ticket office at the Erb Memorial Union, 1222 E. 13th Ave. Hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. On performance nights, tickets also will be available beginning at 6:30 p.m. from the Arena Theatre box office in Villard Hall.
