MAD DUCK THEATRE'S `BABY WITH THE BATHWATER' OPENS JULY 24

EUGENE--Christopher Durang's dark comedy "Baby with the Bathwater" will round out the Mad Duck Repertory Theatre's third season when it opens at 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, in the Arena Theatre at Villard Hall, 1109 Old Campus Lane on the University of Oregon campus.

Subsequent performances will be held on July 25 and Aug. 2-3, 7-8 and 14-17. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m.; Sunday performances begin at 7 p.m.

In "Baby with the Bathwater," Durang, an award-winning playwright, showcases his biting wit and satirical savvy as he skewers the institution of parenthood and navigates the hazards of childhood.

Robin Aronson, a theater arts doctoral degree student, 3485 Kincaid, Eugene, directs "Baby with the Bathwater."

Mad Duck company members performing in the show include Jeff Foley, a senior advertising student, 17370 N.W. Madras Court, Beaverton; Allegro Johnson, a Community Education Program graduate student, 1475 Bailey Hill Rd., Apt. 134, Eugene; Wendy Ross, a freshman English major, 3018 Brett Loop, Eugene; Shelly Swearingen, a senior theater arts major, 4022 S.W. Wickiup Court, Redmond; and Michael Govier, a sophomore theater arts major, 2551 El Verano St., Redding, Calif.

Rebecca Utz, a theater arts master's degree student, 2933 Willamette St., Apt. 2, Eugene, is set designer, and Karen Dinsmore, a senior English major, 2162 Westfarthing Way N.W., Salem, is costume designer. Shelley Douma, a theater arts doctoral degree student, 2869 Lakeshore Dr., Twin Lakes, Mich., is lighting designer.

Jim Utz, a theater arts doctoral degree student, 1801 Tea Place, Davis, Calif., is the sound designer and technical director, while Carrie Glasby, a history master's degree student, 2155 W. 17th Ave., Eugene, is stage manager.

Tickets for Thursday and Sunday performances are $7 for the general public and $5 for students and senior citizens. Friday and Saturday performance tickets are $8 for the general public and $6 for students and senior citizens.

Tickets will be sold by the ticket office at the Erb Memorial Union, 1222 E. 13th Ave. Hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. On performance nights, tickets also will be available beginning at 6:30 p.m. from the Arena Theatre box office in Villard Hall.
