UO SUMMER SESSION OFFERS SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY
|
July 3, 1997
It may be summer, but the joint is jumpin' at the University of Oregon. More than 7,000 students are enrolled for UO summer session, which offers a diverse curriculum designed to meet the needs of a wide range of students. "The majority of summer students are enrolled during the regular academic year and choose to skip the break to catch up on coursework, graduate early or enhance their learning experience," says Ron Trebon, UO summer session director. "But about 35 percent of our students are here just for the summer and are continuing their education for either professional or personal enrichment." Students can find offerings in most disciplines including the sciences, foreign languages, music and journalism. They also can immerse themselves in such field opportunities as marine biology on the southern Oregon coast and archaeological digs in eastern Oregon. Summer session runs June 23-Sept. 5 and courses range in length from short, intensive workshops to the full 11 weeks.
