EDITOR'S NOTE: Student award winners are named in an alphabetical listing of their home towns, first in Oregon and then from out of state.

EUGENE--Nineteen University of Oregon accounting students received academic awards and more than $27,000 in scholarships for the 1998-99 school year at the annual Accounting Recognition Evening.

The students, all accounting majors in the UO Charles H. Lundquist College of Business, include:

  • Joylyn Ankeney, a senior accounting major, 4150 S.W. Hocken Ave., Apt. 9, Beaverton, who received the $3,560 Yergen & Meyer Scholarship in honor of William F. Meyer.

  • Shane Harrison, a senior accounting major, 16036 S.W. Hillary Place, Beaverton, who received the $1,500 Conviser Duffy CPA Review Scholarship.

  • Kristin Carton, a senior accounting major, 1622 Arthur Place, Eugene, who received the OSCPA Outstanding Student Award and the Financial Executives Institute Medallion Award.

  • Denice Gray, a graduate Community Education Program student, 140 W. 16th Ave., Eugene, who received the $1,000 Coopers & Lybrand Leadership Scholarship.

  • Daeho Kim, a senior accounting major, 5030 Nectar Way, Eugene, who received the $2,000 Lundquist Accounting Scholarship.

  • Jason Newport, a senior accounting major, 90342 Squire Dr., Eugene, who received the Department of Accounting Award for Excellence.

  • Maggie Sterett, a senior business administration major, 2087 Law Lane, Eugene, who received the $750 OSCPA Endowment Scholarship.

  • Ryan Wilson, a senior economics major, 3198 Powder River Dr., Eugene, who received the $2,500 Moss Adams Scholarship.

  • Samantha E. Young, a junior accounting major, 3830 Spring Blvd., Eugene, who received the $2,000 Anna L. May Scholarship.

  • Jason Bryant, a senior accounting major, 901 N.W. Regent Dr., Grants Pass, who received a $1,500 Tektronix Scholarship.

  • Jason Link, a senior accounting major, 5657 Goodrich Highway, Oakland, who received a $1,500 Tektronix Scholarship.

  • Susan Brockschink, a senior accounting major, 1590 N.W. 136th Ave., Portland, who received the $1,500 Becker CPA Review Scholarship.

  • Tonja Hill, a senior accounting major, 2196 Juntura Court S., Salem, who received the Department of Accounting Award for Excellence.

  • John Hathaway, a senior accounting major, 23720 S.W. Mountain Creek Rd., Sherwood, who received the $3,200 C. Lyle Kelly Memorial Scholarship.

  • Paul Tiger, a senior accounting major, 342 Church St., Sublimity, who received the $1,000 Financial Executives Institute Scholarship Award and the $500 Institute of Management Accountants Scholarship Award.

  • Adam Beach, a senior accounting major, 1081 Vista Pointe Circle, San Ramon, Calif., who received a $500 Institute of Management Accountants Scholarship.

  • Melissa Yamamoto, a senior accounting major, 2358 Apoepoe St., Pearl City, Hawaii, who received the $3,560 Diana West McKalip Memorial Scholarship for Women.

  • Hayato Sakonju, a junior accounting major, Chiba-City, Japan, who received the $2,000 Chevron Scholarship.

  • Myung Hee Chung, a post baccalaureate accounting major, Seoul, Korea, who received the $500 Gregor Endowment Scholarship.
