EUGENE--University Theatre presents the second of its two children's shows this summer when "King Tut or I Want My Mummy" begins a two-week run on Tuesday, July 28.

All performances will begin at 11 a.m. outside on the Robinson Amphitheater lawn south of Villard Hall, 1109 Old Campus Lane on the University of Oregon campus. Performances will continue through Saturday, Aug. 1, and will repeat Aug. 4-8.

"King Tut" is a wacky musical comedy set in ancient Egypt by playwright Steven Jaquith, a UO alumnus. The newly crowned Tut cannot handle his new-found wealth and power and believes that his godfather Ay and his friend Rosetta Stone are after his gold. To fool everyone Tut locks himself inside a pyramid with all of his riches. Through the help of a comical mummy, the Sphinx and with hints from the audience, Tut manages to escape the pyramid and learn a lesson.

Directed by Jonathan Cole, a master of arts candidate in theater arts, the production features music by Melanie Moseley and set design by Chris Wooten, both master of fine arts degree candidates in theater arts. UO undergraduates Dave Royer, Heather Meyers, Daniel Dismuke and Rene Regan join with these three graduate students to present the original script which is full of crazy characters, silly puns and wacky songs.

"King Tut" follows the successful run earlier this summer of "Peter Rabbit: A Hare-Raising Tale" which delighted people of all ages.

Tickets, $3 each for all ages, are available in advance from the ticket office at the Erb Memorial Union, 1222 E. 13th Ave. on campus, or at the hedge adjacent to the Robinson Amphitheater on the day of each show.
