UO STUDENT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION NAMES NEW OFFICERS

EUGENE–A new group of student officers will manage the University of Oregon Student Alumni Association (SAA) in the 2000—2001 school year.

Greg Danielson, a junior public relations pre-major of P.O. Box 187, Philomath, is the newly elected SAA president.

The Student Alumni Association, founded in 1978 as the Student University Relations Council, works in conjunction with the UO Alumni Association to promote participation in the activities of the university. Some of the major events that the SAA works on include Homecoming, spring and fall Family Weekends, Senior Send-Off and the Mentor Program, which matches students with alumni mentors to assist in career planning and goal setting. SAA members and officers also help with community service events such as campus blood drives and University Day.

In addition to Danielson, other new executive committee members are:

• Vice President Elizabeth Smith, a freshman political science major, 9248 N.W. Skyline Blvd., Portland.

• Treasurer Corey Ying, a sophomore pre-business administration major, 12892 S.E. Spring Mountain Court, Portland.

• Secretary Cassaundra Etzwiler, a junior history major, 2895 Mill St., Eugene.

• Historian Jacy Bennett, a junior political science major, 14466 S. Ironwood, Oregon City.

Committee chairs are:

• Community Relations–Paige Gebhardt, a junior English major, 13830 S.W. Latigo Circle, Beaverton.

• University Relations–Kristall Swiggart, a junior undeclared major, 11000 S.E. Bluff Rd., Sandy.

• Public Relations–Ashley Keels, a freshman pre-journalism major, 7307 N. Wall Ave., Portland.
