EUGENEThe University of Oregon Museum of Art will host a series of free weekly MusEvenings! programs and other special events this summer in conjunction with two summer exhibitions of Northwest art. The art exhibits open on June 30 and continue through Sept. 3.
Unless otherwise noted, all MusEvenings! and other programs will begin at 6 p.m. in the art museum, 1430 Johnson Lane. The events include:
July 5: Lecture, "Introduction to Northwest Art," by Diane Lang Brissenden, a Eugene artist, attorney and art museum docent involved in selecting works for "Community Favorites From The David McCosh Collection."
July 12: Jazz music by the Kyle Sanna Trio of Eugene.
July 19: Lecture, "Paintings by David McCosh," by Kathleen Caprario, a Eugene painter involved in selecting works for the McCosh exhibition.
July 26: Lecture, "Portraiture and the Image of Virginia Haseltine," by Henk Pander, a Portland painter whose portrait of Haseltine is on display in "Heritage of Northwest Art: The Virginia Haseltine Collection."
Aug. 2: Jazz music by Three Cats Theory of Eugene.
Aug. 9: Lecture, "Virginia Haseltines Legacy: A Heritage of Pacific Northwest Art," by Lawrence Fong, curator of Northwest art at the UO Museum of Art.
Aug. 16: Lecture, "The Art of David McCosh," by Craig Cheshire, a Portland painter and former art professor at Portland State University who was a student of McCosh.
Aug. 19: Family Day at UOMA with art activities, teen docent tours and refreshments.

Aug. 23: Lecture, "His Friends, the Artists of the Pacific Northwest," by Nelson Sandgren, a Corvallis painter and former art professor at Oregon State University who was a friend of McCosh.
Aug. 30: Film, "Northwest Visionaries," produced by the Seattle Art Museum.
The University of Oregon Museum of Art is a nonprofit state institution supported by the generosity of its members and by grants from the Oregon Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Several private endowments provide operating funds.
This summers UO Museum of Art exhibitions are made possible by the generous support of the David J. McCosh Memorial Endowment and by the Virginia Haseltine Endowment.
Accessible to people with disabilities, the Museum of Art is open from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Suggested admission is $3, except on Wednesday evenings when the MusEvenings! program offers free extended viewing hours from
5 to 8 p.m. Museum members, students, UO employees and children are admitted free.
