What do a thousand high school football players, several hundred classical musicians and a handful of senior citizens have in common? They’re all staying in residence halls at the University of Oregon this week. "We rent close to 70 percent of our rooms to temporary residents every summer," says Dean Inouye, director of conference services for the UO Office of University Housing. The campus residents are attending 85 specialized camps and conferences that will draw 7,000 people–most of them children–to the UO campus during June, July and August. Summer camps for kids will focus on music, athletics and academics, according to Inouye, while academic conferences and events, such as the Oregon Bach Festival, attract adults to campus.
