EUGENE–During winter and spring terms, 11 University of Oregon students received 2001 scholarships and graduate fellowships worth $1,000 to $5,000 each from the Office of the Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences. Winners were nominated by faculty members.

The awards, for use during the 2001 academic year, went to the following recipients:

• The $1,000 Mildred Braaten Archibald Scholarship in Science and Mathematics went to Meghan McNeil, a senior biology and environmental studies major, 2230 Garfield St., Eugene.

• The $1,500 Mary Chambers Brockelbank Endowed Assistance Fund went to Amy Hughes Giard, 2880 Chambers St., Eugene, a master’s degree student in counseling, family and human services, who received her bachelor’s degree in history from the UO in 1999.

• The $1,000 College of Arts and Sciences Scholarship went to Sarah Murrell, a junior anthropology and psychology major, 1548 Wildcat Rd., Camas Valley; and Arel Cordero, a senior computer and information science major, 1650 Hillwood Court S., Salem.

• The $5,000 College of Arts and Sciences Scholarship went to Christine Zeller, a senior piano performance major in the Robert D. Clark Honors College, 5283 W. Amazon, Eugene; and Kevin Blaine, a senior anthropology and biology major, 350 Brae Burn Dr., Eugene.

• The $1,000 Dorothy Jane and William Green Foreign Languages Scholarship went to Emily Dunn, a winter 2001 graduate with a bachelor of science degree in French, 181 Martha Dr., Winchester; and Katja Glühr, a senior French and German major, 10660 S.W. Del Monte Dr., Tigard.

• The $1,000 John L. and Naomi Luvaas Graduate Fellowship went to Caroline E. Goyette, a master of fine arts degree student in creative writing, 2344 Village Dr., Louisville, Ky.

• The $1,000 Risa Palm Graduate Fellowship went to Tami R. Hill, a doctoral degree candidate in anthropology, 330 N. Washington St., Montoursville, Pa.

• The $1,000 Susan A. Winn Memorial Student Scholarship went to Katharine J. Plein, a sophomore theater arts major, 590 Clay St., Ashland.
