Visions for a new medical education center–designed by architecture students from the University of Oregon–will be presented at Oregon Health & Science University on Monday, June 11. About 20 Portland architects will review the student designs at a 3 p.m.—5 p.m. presentation in the OHSU Auditorium Building, 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Rd., Portland. The centerpiece of the presentation is a detailed scale model of the OHSU campus built by UO students during a studio taught by architecture professor Jenny Young. "The students were asked to design an identifiable home for the medical education center," says Young. "The model provides a focus for discussion. The students have done an extraordinarily good job of putting together a model of the central campus," says Ed Keenan, associate dean for medical education in the OHSU School of Medicine. Keenan hopes to use the model and the students’ ideas to help raise funds to finance the proposed center.
