UO STUDENTS INDUCTED INTO ORDER OF DRUIDS
EUGENETwenty-nine University of Oregon students accepted membership invitations and were initiated this spring by the Ancient Order of Druids, a service honor society for juniors.
The new members were chosen for their scholarship, leadership and participation in campus activities, and for their willingness to serve the university and community.
The UO Ancient Order of Druids is based on the 600-year-old Order of Druids that was known for its interest in the spiritual and intellectual dimensions of life in Gaul and in Britain. By the 1700s, the Druids were focusing on increasing the bounds of knowledge and improving human faculties, a tradition of service carried on by the UO order, which emphasizes campus and community activities.
