EUGENEContemporary trumpeter Brian McWhorter will perform at the University of Oregon Museum of Art, 1430 Johnson Lane, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, for MusEvenings!, the museums free after-hours programming.
McWhorter, a 1998 graduate of the UO School of Music from Portland, is currently studying at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City where he performs with groups such as the award-winning Extension Ensemble, Continuum and the critically acclaimed After Quartet. He is in Eugene to perform at the Oregon Bach Festival.
Visitors are invited to view current museum exhibitions during the extended hours. Refreshments will be served, with soda, beer and wine available for $1.
The UO Museum of Art, accessible to people with disabilities, is open from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Suggested general admission is $3, except on Wednesdays when the MusEvenings! program offers free extended viewing hours from
5 to 8 p.m. Museum members, students, UO employees and children are admitted free.
