This year’s presidential primary is generating enough heat to inspire 65 University of Oregon students to meet over pizza and election returns on Super Tuesday. "The last time a presidential primary was contested in both parties was in 1988," says Joel Bloom, an adjunct professor of political science at the University of Oregon. Bloom is using the primaries to liven up his winter term Introduction to U.S. Politics class. The students will gather around a television set from 4:45-7:15 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, at Pegasus Smokehouse Pizza, 790 E. 14th Ave. "We’ll be doing our own analysis of the results," says Bloom. He, at least, hasn’t written off McCain. "It’s still Bush’s race to lose," he says. Source: Joel Bloom, UO adjunct professor of political science, (541) 346-4139; e-mail jbloom@darkwing.uoregon.edu
