EUGENE--Telephones are ringing all over the country with the sounds of "Welcome to the University of Oregon!" Eight students, all undergraduates picked by the UO Office of Orientation, are calling newly admitted UO students. The New Student Telephone Project (NSTP) callers are contacting Ducks-to-be, congratulating them on their acceptance and answering any questions new students might have about attending the university and living in the Eugene/Springfield area. The NSTP began in mid-January and will continue until the beginning of May. Last year, NSTP staff members placed 10,000 calls to nearly 6,000 incoming students.
