EUGENE–The University of Oregon’s Charles H. Lundquist College of Business presented its Visionaries Awards to MediaOne Group chairman and CEO Charles M. Lillis and JELD-WEN Chairman Richard L. Wendt during ceremonies today (March 18) at the Benson Hotel in Portland.

"Charles Lillis and Richard Wendt are visionaries who throughout their careers have blazed new trails by challenging our concepts of business practices and social responsibility," said Dale Morse, dean of the Lundquist College of Business. "They encourage us all to strive to be the best by confronting the present while envisioning the future."

The Visionaries Alumni Trailblazer Award was presented to Lillis who earned a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 1972. As chairman and chief executive officer of MediaOne Group, formerly US West Media Group, in Englewood, Colo., Lillis oversees domestic and international cable, telephone and international wireless communications as well as interactive multimedia services. He is the former dean of the University of Colorado Business School.

The Visionaries Trendsetter of the Year Award was presented to Wendt. The Klamath Falls resident founded JELD-WEN, a diversified company that owns and operates hotels, resorts, and a door and window manufacturing firm. He is also the founder of JOBSPlus, a program that helps individuals find opportunities that allow them to get off public assistance.

Past winners of Visionaries Awards include Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft Corp.; Paul Brainerd, founder of Aldus Corp.; Charles Lundquist, entrepreneur; and Ed Artzt, chairman of the Executive Committee of Proctor & Gamble.
