UO ARTS & SCIENCES STUDENTS AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS

EUGENE–Eighteen University of Oregon students have received scholarships and graduate fellowships worth $1,000 to $2,000 each from the Office of the Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).

Scholarship recipients, who were nominated by faculty members, received the following:

• The $1,500 Mildred Braaten Archibald Scholarship in Science and Mathematics went to Moira Burke, a senior computer and information science major in the Robert D. Clark Honors College from Cottage Grove.

• The $1,500 Mary Chambers Brockelbank Endowed Assistance Fund went to Ursula Ann Wiljanen, a doctoral degree candidate in comparative literature from Torrance, Calif.; and Anna-Minna Pavulans, a doctoral degree candidate in comparative literature and geography from Vänersborg, Sweden.

• The $1,500 College of Arts and Sciences Scholarhip went to Leahmani Tyler, a junior women’s studies and history major in the Robert D. Clark Honors College from Eugene; Alison Y. Lee, a senior biology major in the Robert D. Clark Honors College from Lake Oswego; and Daniel Katz, a senior political science major from Scottsdale, Ariz.

• The $1,000 Dorothy Jane and William Green Foreign Languages Scholarship went to Matthew House, a senior Spanish major in the Robert D. Clark Honors College from Eugene; and Dana Ponte, a sophomore Russian and Eastern European studies major in the Robert D. Clark Honors College from Grants Pass.

• The $1,000 Everett D. Monte Scholarship went to Jeremy Lanig, a junior mathematics major in the Robert D. Clark Honors College from Albany; Sarah Christopher, a junior Italian major from Eugene; and Brian Malloy, a junior political science major in the Robert D. Clark Honors College from Eureka, Calif.

• The $2,000 Everett D. Monte Fellowship went to Kelsey Libner, a master’s degree candidate in psychology from Westport, Conn.; and Brian Rusk, a doctoral degree student in geology from Richmond, Va.

• The $1,000 John L. and Naomi Luvaas Graduate Fellowship went to Corrina Wycoff, a master of fine arts degree student in creative writing from Eugene; and Philip Ojo, a doctoral degree candidate in Romance languages from Nigeria.

• The $1,000 Risa Palm Graduate Fellowship went to Robert G. Howard, a doctoral degree candidate in English from San Diego, Calif.; and Chulanee Thianthai, a doctoral degree candidate in anthropology from Bangkok, Thailand.

• The $1,000 Susan A. Winn Memorial Student Scholarship went to Amy J. Biggs, a sophomore general science and psychology major in the Robert D. Clark Honors College from Gresham.
