EUGENE–University of Oregon Athletic Director Bill Moos is preparing to sign a four-year contract extension with the University of Oregon, Dan Williams, UO vice president for administration, announced today (May 23).

"This long-planned contract extension demonstrates our confidence in Bill Moos’ leadership," says Williams.

The agreed-upon compensation package will pay Moos approximately $300,000 per year in salary and benefits, a level comparable to athletic directors at the nation’s top programs.

Since assuming his current role as the university’s ninth athletic director in July 1995, the
49-year-old Washington native has managed the UO Department of Intercollegiate Athletics through its most successful era in recent memory. This year, 14 of the institution’s 16 programs qualified for representation in post-season competition.

In addition to directing numerous facility improvements, Moos also has overseen efforts that have resulted in each of the school’s intercollegiate programs receiving the full scholarship funding allowed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

"Duck athletics is an integral part of the University of Oregon, and Bill Moos is an integral part of Duck athletics," says UO President Dave Frohnmayer. "I am very pleased to be able to reward Bill’s dedication to the UO and look forward to many more years of outstanding results under his direction."
