Tuesday, May 27--UO Vocal Jazz Ensemble

The UO Vocal Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Assistant Professor Sid Haton, will give a spring concert of choral jazz selections beginning at 8 p.m. in Beall Concert Hall, 961 E. 18th Ave. Tickets, available at the door, are $4 general admission and $2 for students and senior citizens.

The program will cover the entire spectrum of a cappella music from jazz standards and blues to gospel numbers and popular selections. Titles include "Round Midnight," "Waltz for Debbie," "Gold Mine" and "Quiet Place," as well as music by Take 6, The Bobs, Curtis Mayfield, The Real Group and others.

Wednesday, May 28--Future Music Oregon

The UO School of Music's first live broadcast on the Internet will be a concert of original computer music by Future Music Oregon at 8 p.m. in Room 198 of the Music Building. Tickets, available at the door, are $4 general admission and $2 for students and senior citizens.

Among the compositions composed and performed under the guidance of Associate Professor Jeffrey Stolet are new works created in the Future Music Oregon studios, as well as pieces for the Yamaha Disklavier. A live performance using infrared beam controllers to trigger the notes of the performance also is planned.

Future Music Oregon will reprise some of the best past works created in its studios, as well as UO student pieces that have been presented at national and international festivals--including those that were presented at the International Computer Music Conference in Hong Kong last summer.

Listening to the broadcast will require a high-speed Internet connection and special software. A modem-and-telephone connection is not sufficient. For assistance, call Jon Miyake, (541) 346-1773 or 346-1163.

Thursday, May 29--University Singers and Chamber Choir

The University Singers and UO Chamber Choir will give their spring concert at 8 p.m. in Beall Hall. Tickets, available at the door, are $4 general admission and $2 for students and senior citizens.

A special selection will be "Midnight Wind Over Pine Trees" by UO student composer David Tsai, written to a Chinese poem by Shiu, Jr-Mo. The piece will feature soprano Chi-Chi Tung, pianist Karen Lam and flutist Lee Ann Sterling.

The UO Chamber Choir, directed by Associate Professor Mark Beudert, will sing Samuel Barber's "Reincarnations," based on texts by the Irish poet James Stephens. The three songs are titled "Mary Hynes," "Anthony O'Daly" and "The Coolin'."
