EDUCATION NOTES
EUGENE--Three University of Oregon scientists have been elected to Fellowship in the American Academy of Microbiology. The recipients are Frederick Dahlquist, a professor of chemistry; Eric Selker, a professor of biology; and Tom Stevens, a professor of chemistry. All are members of the Institute of Molecular Biology, for which Dahlquist serves as director. The American Academy of Microbiology (AAM) is the only honorific leadership group devoted entirely to microbiologists and the science of microbiology. Academy members have elected more than 1,300 AAM Fellows from 27 countries. Each AAM Fellow has demonstrated scientific excellence, originality and leadership; high ethical standards; and scholarly and creative achievement. The fellows represent all of microbiology, including basic and applied research, teaching, public health, industry and government service. The mission of the AAM is to recognize scientists for distinguished achievements in microbiology and provide microbiological expertise in the service of science and the public. -30- #G-7353/Local
