EUGENE--Twenty-eight University of Oregon students will receive Dean's Awards for Service at the annual Family Weekend All-University Awards luncheon on Saturday, May 16. Winners of this year's awards in recognition of their "exceptional contributions of service" include William Minor of Astoria; Yujin Chi of Beaverton; James Boyd and Casey Crisler, both of Bend; Patrick Tandingan of Clackamas; Jennifer Rigsbee of Estacada and Frankfurt, Mich.; Yancey DeYoung, Eric Hudzikiewicz and Ayanna Luvert, all of Eugene; Sadie Rogers of Government Camp; Robert Wasson III of Hillsboro and San Diego, Calif.; Courtney Kroupa of Lake Oswego; Kristen Winters of Newport; Alexandra Berwick, Yolanda Domond, Eric Foley and Yvonne Stubbs, all of Portland; and Amy Casso of Salem. Also to be honored are Sam Bessey of San Francisco, Calif.; Jason Khoury of Stockton, Calif.; Caitlin Lepper of Walnut Creek, Calif.; Jennifer Schiele of Highland Ranch, Colo. and Westwood, Mass.; Jamie Chang of Honolulu, Hawaii; Sarah Hollopeter of Grangeville, Idaho; Jennifer Tolman of Hamilton, Mont.; Cindie Edamura of Kamloops, British Columbia; and Luis Hernandez and Carlos Maza, both of Atizipan, Mexico. -oOo- Minor, a senior political science and history major, is the son of Polly Minor, 1039 Lexington, Astoria. Among his honors and memberships, Minor is president of the Associated Students of the University of Oregon and chair of the Oregon Student Association. Chi, a senior business administration and journalism major, is the daughter of Young Jo Chi, 16055 S.W. Falcon Dr., Beaverton. Among her honors and affiliations, Chi is a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and the American Marketing Association. Boyd, a senior music major, is the son of Bill and Bonnie Boyd, 20160 Tumalo Rd., Bend. Among his honors and memberships, Boyd is an Oregon Wind Ensemble member and serves on the Campus Planning Committee.
Crisler, a senior fine and applied arts major, is the daughter of Allan and Patricia Crisler, 1808 N.W. Vicksburg Ave., Bend. Among her honors and memberships, Crisler is a 1997-98 UO Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Scholar-Athlete Award recipient and a Golden Key National Honor Society member. Tandingan, a senior biology major, is the son of Ronnie and Mila Tandingan, 12298 Imperial Crest St., Clackamas. Among his honors and affiliations. Tandingan is the UO Student Alumni Association president and a Newman Center Youth Ministry assistant youth minister. Rigsbee, a senior Spanish and environmental studies major, is the daughter of William Rigsbee, 961 N.E. Edgehill Dr., Estacada, and Marcia Nugent, 4366 Crawford Rd., Frankfort, Mich. Among her honors and memberships, Rigsbee is a Nearby Nature tour guide and a Clark Honors College High School Recruitment Team volunteer. DeYoung, a senior sociology major of 5075 Saratoga, Eugene, is a special events coordinator for LGBT educational and support services and a member of the Women's Center advisory board. Hudzikiewicz, a senior business administration major, is the son of Joe and Mary Hudzikiewicz, 1915 W. 28th, Eugene. Among his memberships and honors, Hudzikiewicz directed the 1997 University Day and was an event vice chair of the UO 36-Hour Dance Marathon. Luvert, a senior education major, is the daughter of Henry and Arbrella Luvert, 2036 S. Shasta Loop, Eugene. Among her honors and affiliations, Luvert is an American English Institute head activities coordinator and a Big Brother/Big Sister mentor. Rogers, a senior sociology major, is the daughter of David and Carolyn Rogers, P.O. Box 88, Government Camp. Among her honors and memberships, Rogers is the Associated Students of the University of Oregon university affairs chair and chairs the Counseling Center Advisory Committee. Wasson III, a senior English major, is the son of Lita Lenz, 3408 S.E. Alder, Hillsboro, and Robert Wasson Jr., 9277 Fern Ave., San Diego, Calif. Among his memberships and honors, Wasson has served as a Child Care and Development Center student teacher and as a Club Sports Executive Committee volunteer. Kroupa, a senior education major, is the daughter of Dixie and Tom Kroupa, 4023 Trout Way, Lake Oswego. Among her honors and memberships, Kroupa is the Associated Students of the University of Oregon programs administrator and a Women's Center board of directors volunteer. Winter, a senior, educational studies major, is the daughter of Jack and Liz Winter, 5954 S.W. Cupola Dr., Newport. Among her honors and affiliations, Winter is the student director of Orientation and an educational studies peer advising student coordinator. Berwick, a senior political science major, is the daughter of Nancy and Emilio Berwick, 7930 N. Fenwick Ave., Portland. Among her honors and memberships, Berwick is the Associated Students of the University of Oregon multicultural advocate, and she serves as co-chair of the President's Task Force for Racial Diversity.
Domond, a senior biology major, is the daughter of Carol Halvorson, 3242 N.E. 58th Ave., Portland. Among her honors and memberships, Domond co-chairs the Multicultural Center board and is president of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority's Eugene/Corvallis undergraduate membership. Foley, a senior business administration and psychology major, is the son of Pat and Mike Foley, 12905 S.W. Parkway, Portland. Among his honors and memberships, Foley was a Women of Color Conference volunteer and is the Oregon Ballroom Dance Club president. Stubbs, a senior fine and applied arts major, is the daughter of Opal Roberts, 6111 N. Albona, Portland. Among her honors and activities, Stubbs is a Sunday school superintendent and an NAACP mentor. Casso, a senior political science and planning, public policy and management major, is the daughter of Rosie Cantu, P.O. Box 18533, Salem. Among her honors and memberships, Casso is a MEChA co-director and an Oregon Latino Voter Registration Education Project coordinator. Bessey, a senior planning, public policy and management major, is the son of William and Marsha Bessey, 2407 Pacific Ave., San Francisco, Calif. Among his honors and memberships, Bessey is the Interfraternity Council president and chairs the Erb Memorial Union board of directors' House Committee. Khoury, a senior journalism and political science major, is the son of David and Judy Khoury, 8628 Kernwood Court, Stockton, Calif. Among his honors and memberships, Khoury is the student director of Tour Guides and Informational Services, and he is the Student Alumni Association's Senior Send-Off chair. Lepper, a senior environmental studies major, is the daughter of Gary and Tessa Lepper, 10 LaMesa Lane, Walnut Creek, Calif. Among her honors and memberships, Lepper is the Mortar Board National Honor Society junior scholar chair and the Erb Memorial Union Cultural Forum heritage music coordinator. Schiele, a senior Spanish major, is the daughter of Linda Schiele, 9926 S. Apollo Bay Way, Highland Ranch, Colo., and Fred Schiele, 80 Wilson Way, Westwood, Mass. Among her honors and memberships, Schiele is the UO Freshman Interest Group Program undergraduate coordinator and serves as the Clark Honors College Literary Journal editor-in-chief. Chang, a senior advertising major, is the daughter of Clayton Chang, 5355 Papai St., Honolulu, Hawaii. Among her honors and affiliations, Chang is a Eugene Weekly advertising sales intern and a School of Journalism and Communications peer adviser. Hollopeter, a senior biology major, is the daughter of Wayne and Alexia Hollopeter, Rt. 2, Box 418, Grangeville, Idaho. Among her honors and memberships, Hollopeter is a peer health educator and serves as an assistant care provider at a Eugene women's clinic.
Tolman, a senior Spanish and psychology major, is the daughter of Merlon and Jackie Tolman, 458 Highway 93 North, Hamilton, Mont. Among her honors and memberships, Tolman serves as an American Cancer Society relay committee member and is a Springfield High School counselor. Edamura, a senior exercise and movement science, and psychology major, is the daughter of Dave and Irene Edamura, Kamloops, British Columbia. Among her honors and memberships, Edamura is an American Cancer Association volunteer and a P.L.A.Y. Sportsorama youth camp leader. Hernandez, a senior business administration major, is the son of Erasmo Hernandez Fernandez, Atizapan, Mexico. Among his honors and memberships, Hernandez is the director of the Latin American and Caribbean Student Organization and an international peer assistant. Maza, a senior business administration major, is the son of Beatriz Arilés, Atizapan, Mexico.
