EUGENE--The University of Oregon Mothers' Club presented $8,500 in scholarships and awards to 10 exceptional UO undergraduate students during the annual Family Weekend All-University Awards Luncheon on Saturday, May 16. The honors, for use during the 1998-99 school year, include the $1,500 Golda Parker Wickham Award, the $1,250 Opal and Robert D. Clark Scholarship, the $750 Theresa Kelly Janes Scholarship, and five $1,000 UO Mothers' Club Scholarships. The UO Mothers' Club Scholarship program, established in 1934, provides funds to UO students recognized for their strong leadership qualities, high academic achievement, community involvement and financial need. Chelsea Cochran, a senior landscape architecture major of 8570 S.W. Cecilia Terrace, Portland, received the Wickham award. Named for the UO dean of women from 1945-1969, the award recognizes outstanding involvement in civic activities as well as high academic achievement. Sarah Schmeck, a sophomore biology major of 3880 Redondo Way, Klamath Falls, received the Clark Scholarship. The award was established to recognize volunteer service, scholarship and need. It honors the UO president emeritus and his late wife Opal for their outstanding service and volunteer support. Timani R. Hoisington, a junior music major of 4236 Dove Lane, Eugene, received the Janes award. It honors a deceased UO alumna who taught piano and strongly supported the UO Mothers' Club and the university. The Mothers' Club presented $1,000 scholarships to the following students: * Helen Stocklin-Enright, a sophomore political science major of 14813 Bo's Ave., Aurora. * Rose Lucey, a sophomore pre-psychology major of 4137 Kane Creek Rd., Central Point. * Charles Gabbe, a freshman pre-business administration major of 897 Fox Glenn Ave., Eugene. * Jana L. Mooster, a senior chemistry major of 2871 Orchard Home Dr., Medford. * Joshua B. Hanna, a senior biochemistry major of 2631 Arbor Dr., West Linn. * Elizabeth Anne Layton, a senior English and history major of 10059 Redwood Highway, Wilderville. * Erin Hale, a senior biology major of 1005 N.
