UO STUDENTS GIVEN CENTURION AWARDS

EUGENE--More than 100 University of Oregon student leaders received 1998 Centurion Awards in recognition of their "dedication and outstanding service" throughout the past year.

Centurions accepted their awards during the Family Weekend All-University Awards Luncheon on May 16. Faculty members nominated students for the award, and a panel of faculty, staff and students then selected the Centurions from the nominees.

Out-of-state and foreign Centurion Award recipients include:

ALASKA--Carrie Ventura, a junior economics major, Petersburg.

CALIFORNIA--Nicholas Levine, a sophomore music education major, Alamo; Kameron Cole, a sophomore journalism and political science major, and Rachel Ford, a junior psychology major, both of Carson; Steven Brockbank, a senior journalism: magazine major, Cupertino; Hans Hlawaty, a sophomore music performance major; Irvine; Michael Fern, a senior business major, Los Angeles; Darshan Schmitz, a senior international studies major, Martinez and San Ramon; Monica Almojuela, a freshman undeclared major, San Jose; and Stephanie Erba, a junior history major, and Andrea Shanafelt, a junior English major, both of Woodland.

COLORADO--Melissa Warnock, a junior anthropology major, Boulder.

FLORIDA--Michele Dick, a junior business and sociology major, Boyton Beach.

GEORGIA--Holly Sanders, a junior magazine journalism major, Whitesburg.

HAWAII--Katy Ho, a sophomore public relations major; Shannan Rei Okubo, a senior journalism major; and Kanealii Osorlio, a senior psychology major, all of Honolulu.

IDAHO--Tiffany Helleson, a senior history and French major, and Nicole Hughes, a senior education major, both of Boise.

MASSACHUSETTS--Elizabeth Beeuwkes, a junior biology major, Concord.

MINNESOTA--Russell Larson, a sophomore biology major, Minneapolis; and Jeremy Sutton, a junior music education major, Woodbury.

MONTANA--Robert Elder, a junior journalism major, Billings; and Sam Douglass, a freshman undeclared major, Butte.

NEVADA--Robert Elder, a junior journalism major, and Melissa Rock, a junior environmental studies major, both of Las Vegas.

NORTH CAROLINA--Joshua Carlon, a sophomore advertising major, Charlotte.

OHIO--Chris Kenning, a senior journalism major, Centerville.

PENNSYLVANIA--Melissa Rock, a junior environmental studies major, State College.

WASHINGTON--Michele Dick, a junior business and sociology major, Bellevue; Rachelle Pavao, a junior sociology major, Bothell; Wendy Ross, a sophomore theater arts major, Camino Island; Ta Liu Shih, a senior magazine journalism major, Issaquah;Raymond Severns, a senior music education major, Vancouver; and Emily Dietzman, a junior environmental studies major, Walla Walla.

MALAYSIA--Salawati Abu Bakar, a senior news-editorial journalism major, Selangor.

NEPAL--Amita Malakar, a junior environmental studies major, and Aruna Pradhan, a sophomore undeclared major, both of Kathmandu.
