EUGENE--A University of Oregon committee charged with reviewing the present status and future prospects of the Riverfront Research Park is seeking input from the public. "The committee wants information, suggestions and reasoned arguments about how best to shape the future development of the Riverfront Research Park," says Theodore Palmer, a professor of mathematics who chairs the committee. The committee encourages use of its e-mail address for submission of written comments to rrpreview@lists.uoregon.edu;. The panel also will accept mail addressed to: Riverfront Research Park Review Committee, c/o President's Office, 1226 University of Oregon, Eugene, OR 97403-1226. Palmer emphasizes that this is not any kind of public poll, but rather an opportunity for community members to present written input on matters connected with the Riverfront Research Park. Located north of the UO campus, the park is a joint venture of the City of Eugene and the university covering 67 acres along the south bank of the Willamette River. The committee, recently appointed by UO President Dave Frohnmayer after consultation with the Faculty Advisory Council and the University Senate, consists of faculty members, students and a representative of the University of Oregon Foundation. In appointing the committee, Frohnmayer stressed that there had not been an outside review of the research park for a decade, and that he wanted candid advice on the subject. The review panel expects to submit a report to Frohnmayer by mid-September. -30- #P-7346/Local,Special
