EUGENE--A University of Oregon committee is seeking public comment on the present status and future prospects of the Riverfront Research Park at a public forum at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday,

May 28, in the Fir Room of the Erb Memorial Union, 1222 E. 13th Ave. on the UO campus.

"The committee wants information, suggestions and reasoned arguments about how best to shape the future development of the Riverfront Research Park," says Theodore Palmer, a professor of mathematics who chairs the committee.

UO President Dave Frohnmayer recently appointed the committee and charged it with reviewing the status and future prospects of the Riverfront Research Park after consultation with the Faculty Advisory Council and the University Senate. Committee members include faculty members, students and a representative of the UO Foundation.

Palmer emphasizes that the forum is not intended as a public poll about the park, but rather as an opportunity for community members to present input useful to the committee on matters connected with the research park.

In appointing the committee, Frohnmayer stressed that there had not been an outside review of the Riverfront Research Park for a decade, and that he wanted candid advice on the subject.

The committee has solicited and has been accepting written public comment since early May via E-mail atrpreview@lists.uoregon.edu or through regular mail at Riverfront Research Park Review Committee, c/o President's Office, 1226 University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon 97403-1226.

By mid-September, the committee will submit a report to Frohnmayer providing advice on this issue.
