EUGENEThe University of Oregon Mothers Club presented $7,650 in scholarships and awards to nine exceptional UO undergraduate students during the annual Family Weekend All-University Awards Luncheon on May 15.
The honors, for use during the 19992000 school year, include the $1,200 Golda Parker Wickham Award, the $1,000 Opal and Robert D. Clark Scholarship, the $650 Theresa Kelly Janes Scholarship, and six $800 UO Mothers Club Scholarships.
The UO Mothers Club Scholarship program, established in 1934, provides funds to UO students recognized for their strong leadership qualities, high academic achievement, community involvement and financial need.
Elizabeth M. Mohr, a sophomore educational studies major of 1555 14th St., Baker City, received the Wickham award. Named for the UO dean of women from 19451969, the award recognizes outstanding involvement in civic activities as well as high academic achievement.
Jeffrey W. Stephens, a junior advertising major of 61384 Robinhood Lane, Bend, received the Clark Scholarship. The award was established to recognize volunteer service, scholarship and need. It honors the UO president emeritus and his late wife Opal for their outstanding service and volunteer support.
April Chisholm, a junior music performance and education major of 651 20th St. N.E., Salem, received the Janes award. It honors a deceased UO alumna who taught piano and strongly supported the UO Mothers Club and the university.
The Mothers Club presented $800 scholarships to the following students:
Rose Lucey, a junior psychology major, 4137 Kane Creek Rd., Central Point.
YuJeong Kwon, a senior international studies and psychology major, 11334 S.E. Highland Loop, Clackamas.
Catherine Jeanette Cotton, a junior general science major, 1680 Alder St., Eugene.
Carina Febus, a freshman undeclared major, 1000 Marjean Lane, Apt. Q21, Grants Pass.
Kimberly Jones, a sophomore sociology major, 5200 N.E. 92nd Ave., Apt. 13, Portland.
Suzanne R. Moore, a sophomore international studies and German major, 7653 N.E. Stanton, Portland.
