EUGENE--Three free concerts featuring dance, new compositions and early Latin American music are scheduled this week at the University of Oregon School of Music, 961 E. 18th Ave. For more information, call the UO School of Music weekdays at (541) 346-5678. Tuesday, Dec. 2--Oregon Composers Forum The Oregon Composers Forum will perform new music by UO composition students at 8 p.m. in Beall Concert Hall, 961 E. 18th Ave. Admission is free. Among the pieces on the program are works for string quartet; female vocal quartet; clarinet duo; several vocal selections; music for solo piano, solo flute, soprano and percussion; and a flute-violin-cello-marimba quartet. Featured student composers are Lay Kar Kho, Dima Nariman Gharaibeh, Brian McCarren, Lily Barmor, Elyzabeth Meade, Paul Dondero, Dean Lentz, David York and Brian Coughlin. Wednesday, Dec. 3--Collegium Musicum The Collegium Musicum will perform baroque and Renaissance music of Latin America at 6 p.m. in the Browsing Room of the Knight Library, 1501 Kincaid St. Admission is free. The program includes music by Hernando Franco, Francisco Guerrero, Juan de Herrera, Domenico Zipoli, Manuel de Zumaya, Gaspar Fernandez and Roque Ceruti, as well as other selections for soloists, choir and instruments. The Collegium Musicum is a 17-piece ensemble directed by Assistant Professor Marc Vanscheeuwijck, a specialist in early music. Wednesday, Dec. 3--Dance Quarterly The UO Department of Dance presents Dance Quarterly at 7 p.m. in the Dougherty Dance Theatre in the Gerlinger Annex, 1484 University St. Admission is free. The program is an informal showing of studies by the Dance Composition class and a preview of a new duet choreographed by visiting assistant professor Les Watanabe.
