Peter Ho Davies, author of "The Ugliest House in the World," received the H.L. Davis Award for Fiction at the 12th annual Oregon Book Awards in Portland on Nov. 10. Davies is an assistant professor in the University of Oregon’s acclaimed Creative Writing Program. "One of the things that attracted me to the UO Creative Writing Program was its national recognition," Davies says. Davies is also one of 20 winners of the 1998 O. Henry Short Story Award. Previous Oregon Book Award winners from the UO include Garrett Hongo and Lauren Kessler as well as former UO faculty members Chang-rae Lee and Diana Abu-Jaber.
