Includes workshop space with fully equipped shop, secure storage and exterior workspaces.

The facility will provide hands-on education in architecture, landscape architecture and historic preservation.

The student design for the facility will emphasize design quality, environmental sensitivity and sustainability principles for construction and site development.

Targeted completion in summer 2001.

Autzen Stadium

South side of stadium.

2700 Centennial Blvd.

Increases seating capacity from 41,700 to 53,800*

Adds 32 skyboxes, concourse, improved restrooms and concession facilities, improves accessibility.

$70-$80 million*

Stadium revenue: 10 percent

Sale of state bonds: 5 percent

The renovation and expansion will provide needed upgrades to the 33-year-old facility to better accommodate crowds in excess of 50,000 patrons.

Increased revenue from additional seating and skyboxes will assist continued self-support for UO athletics.

To occur in three phases, with targeted completion in summer 2002.

Gilbert hall expansion and renovation

Includes small-group team rooms, flexible learning centers, student resource centers and new 300-seat lecture hall.

The renovation and expansion will focus on new technology and project-based learning.

New space will provide learning environments that accommodate today’s entrepreneurial hands-on approach to business education, and will expand overall university classroom seating.

Many Nations Longhouse

5,200 sq. ft.

East 15th Ave., east of the Knight Law Center

Jonpaul Jones, architect. All-wood structure with Great Room, modeled after traditional longhouse of Kalapuya Indians.

New facility to replace existing longhouse structure established in 1960s and in disrepair. New facility to serve as community, cultural and educational center for students, tribal groups and general public. Part of larger initiative promoting Native American education and research at UO.

Museum of Art

38,290 sq. ft.

1430 Johnson Lane in the center of campus

Renovation of public spaces, galleries and support areas. Contemporary climate control and new electrical wiring and lighting. New galleries, auditorium, special events halls, museum café and sculpture gardens. Revised loading and parking areas. ADA accessibility.

$12 million

Private, federal and state contributions

Architectural team includes SRG Partnership of Portland in consultation with Hammond Beeby Rupert Ainge, Inc., of Chicago. The project will add 38,290 square feet to the existing 24,890-square-foot building, preserving the western façade while modernizing the 1932 building to keep pace with modern museum practices and provide a safe environment for visitors and art collections.

Construction documents to be drawn summer 2000. Construction timetable to be determined. Targeted completion in 2002.

Museum of Natural History

3,500 sq. ft. (existing)

Completely redesign and renovate exhibit spaces.

Renovated exhibition hall will provide three distinct types of display spaces to allow curators to present an integrated set of semi-permanent displays and changing exhibits.

Vivian Olum Child Development Center (Lois Scharpf Reed Wing)

2,688 sq. ft.

1650 Columbia St. on the eastern edge of campus

Facilities for 16 toddlers and 25 school-age children. More teacher work space. Expanded kitchen. New covered outdoor play areas. Added storage space.

$600,000

Private gifts: one-third

Sale of state bonds: two-thirds

Architects are De Norval Unthank Architects of Eugene. The 2,688-square-foot addition will be constructed of wood frame on concrete slab foundations, with windows and clerestories to provide natural daylighting. Exterior materials similar to existing center.

Construction plans being drawn. Contractor bids to be solicited winter 2000. Construction starts spring 2000. Completed in time for start of fall 2000 classes.
