EUGENE–The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) has awarded its highest honor to Ed Weeks, associate professor in the Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management at the University of Oregon.

The award, an honorary membership in ICMA, recognizes Weeks’ contribution to local governance and to the profession of local government management. The award is based on Weeks’ work in developing effective models for involving citizens in governmental decision-making, a process he calls deliberative democracy, and for his contributions to the continuing professional development of local government executives.

ICMA is the professional association of local government chief executives. This honor was last awarded by the association in 1995.
