EUGENEFour of the University of Oregon School of Musics top ensembles will be in the spotlight at this weeks sole music school event, the annual Homecoming Concert, set for 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, in Beall Concert Hall, 961 E. 18th Ave.
Admission is free for the public concert that welcomes alumni, parents, students and others to campus during a weekend filled with a wide range of Homecoming as well as Fall Family Weekend activities.
The University Symphony, under the baton of Wayne Bennett, will perform "Per la Flor del Lliri Blau" by Joaquin Rodrigo and "Witches Sabbath" from "Symphonie Fantastique" by Hector Berlioz.
The award-winning Oregon Jazz Ensemble, directed by Steve Owen, will play "500 Years" by Lars Jansson and other selections.
The University Singers, directed by Sharon Paul, will sing "Three Scottish Folksongs," arranged by Mack Wilberg, and "Let Me Fly," arranged by Robert DeCormier.
The Oregon Wind Ensemble, under the baton of Todd Zimbelman, will perform a suite emulating music of five European countries, titled "Courtly Airs and Dances" by Ron Nelson.
