The evening will include introductions of faculty members as well as information about various groups and events on campus. UO President Dave Frohnmayer, who will be out of town representing the university, will deliver a videotaped welcome at the event. "Our hope is that the prepared food, live music and performances, art exhibits and information tables will help to establish a working network between students, faculty and staff, and build upon our community of color," said Cynthia Hui, Associated Students of the University of Oregon (ASUO) multicultural recruitment and retention coordinator. "The significance of `Weaving New Beginnings' is that we are bringing together a community of color to mingle and to get to know one another on a social level--outside of the classrooms and away from the administration offices," said Robert Wasson, ASUO multicultural advocate.
