GRADE SCHOOLERS JOIN HALLOWEEN FUN IN UO CHEMISTRY CLASS

Oct. 29, 1997

Weird glowing substances, mysterious explosions, "ooh, gross" chemical reactions and ghoulish mayhem all will be part of a special Halloween program in one University of Oregon class. For her Friday, Oct. 31, class meeting, chemistry professor Geraldine Richmond has invited children from several local grade schools to join her UO students on Halloween. Nationally recognized as a model mentor for young women interested in science and math, Richmond says she hopes to teach one lesson --science can be fun. Richmond has enlisted a large supporting cast to help her in this elaborate scare-o-rama. Her class, Introduction to Chemical Principles, meets from 11 to 11:50 a.m in Room 123, Pacific Hall, 1210 Franklin Blvd. on the University of Oregon campus.
